An article in November 2008 suggests there are 182million website's on the internet. For businesses a website offers a cost effective, 24/7 shop window with the flexibility to ‘decorate the window’ to reflect your products, services and brand values. The IMRG-Capgemini online sales index suggests that out of every £1 spent by British shoppers, 17pence is spent online. In the first six months of 2008, £26.5bn was spent online - up 38% on 2007.
